Cassiope FZCO was founded in Dubai by traders with deep roots in the physical oil markets of the Middle East and Africa. We set out to build something specific: a focused, independent trading company with the agility of a boutique and the discipline of an institution.
The oil trading industry is dominated by large, diversified commodity houses. We believe there is a distinct and durable role for a smaller, more focused counterparty — one that can move quickly, commit with conviction, and build genuine relationships rather than transactional ones.
Our founders have collectively spent decades in the industry, working across national oil companies, international trading houses, and commodity finance banks. That experience informs how we structure transactions, how we manage risk, and how we engage with counterparties.
We are based in Dubai because it is the right place to run this business. It sits at the centre of the world's most important producing region, offers a world-class regulatory and legal framework, and connects us to the markets we serve.

We trade physical crude oil and petroleum products. We do not trade equities, metals, agricultural commodities, or financial derivatives for their own sake. Specialisation is a competitive advantage, not a limitation.
We know our counterparties.
We conduct thorough due diligence on every counterparty before we trade. We do not work with entities we cannot verify. This is both a compliance requirement and a commercial preference.
We move with purpose.
We do not chase volume for its own sake. Each transaction we enter is one where we believe we can add genuine value — through pricing, structuring, logistics, or financing — not simply by being an intermediary.

Integrity
We do not cut corners on compliance, documentation, or counterparty due diligence. Every transaction we enter is one we are prepared to stand behind — commercially, legally, and reputationally.
Discretion
Our counterparties trust us with commercially sensitive information. We treat that trust as a professional obligation, not a courtesy. We do not discuss our trades, our counterparties, or our positions with third parties.
Long-Term Thinking
We are not optimising for the next cargo. We are building a business that will still be active in ten years. That means we sometimes decline transactions that do not meet our standards, even when the economics are attractive.
Cassiope
Cassiopeia is one of the most recognisable constellations in the northern sky — a fixed point that navigators have used for centuries to orient themselves. Its distinctive W shape is visible year-round from the northern hemisphere, a constant presence in a changing sky.
We chose the name because it reflects what we aspire to be for our counterparties: a reliable, consistent presence in markets that are often volatile and uncertain. Not the largest player, but a dependable one.
The name also carries a quieter meaning. Cassiopeia was a queen — proud, capable, and occasionally humbled by the sea. We find that an honest metaphor for anyone who works in commodity markets.
